How to Be Sexy, II: Walking the Walk

In How to be Sexy Part I, I focused more on the inner work you have to do in order to feel good about yourself, which I think is the foundation to being sexy. In addition to a strong sense of self, there are some other things that can enhance one’s sex appeal. Here are five more things you can do to be more sexy:

  • The Attitude. Being sexy is all about attitude and how you project yourself to others. Feeling confident and good about yourself is just about the best thing you can do to make yourself attractive to others.
  • The Look. Being sexy is about working your own style. Put on your sexiest outfit that emphasizes the best parts of your body. There isn’t just one style that’s sexy; if you look good in punk or skater clothes, rock ‘em. If you can walk in stilettos, rock ‘em. Just don’t overdo it. A revealing top or skirt is fine, but both at the same time is overkill.
  • The Lingerie. Underwear is as important, if not more important, than outerwear. That’s because beautiful lingerie can make you feel sexy, even if it’s hidden under boring work clothes, and you’ll project that confidence.
  • The “je ne sais quoi.” Je ne sais quoi translates to “I don’t know what,” and refers to an intangible or mysterious quality that makes someone appealing. The best way to achieve that something that “leaves them wanting more” is to be yourself. I said it in the last post, but it’s worth repeating. Authenticity and depth create more intrigue than mimicry and shallowness.
  • The Stance. Your posture is important when it comes to conveying allure and confidence. Hunching over and looking down communicates that you’re insecure; crossing your arms suggests that you’re closed off and unapproachable. Stand (or sit) tall, relax your arms into a comfortable position, and have an open face to communicate warmth, confidence, and appeal.
