2008: Year of the Sexy Geek

It’s December, so that means that in addition to the general holiday cheer, ’tis also the season of best-of lists, like the best male nude scenes and best female nude scenes of 2008. This year, it’s the geeks that have gotten me all hot and bothered. There were so many cute guys in smarty pants in 2008, it was hard to come up with my top five. But I gladly mulled over my favorite celebrity sexy geeks, in no particular order, to share with all the other sexy geek lovers out there.

Michael Cera. I have loved this man-boy since Arrested Development, and he really just keeps on getting better. He is Hollywood’s favorite awkward teen since starring in Superbad, Juno, and Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist. His genuine niceness, impeccable timing, and subtle wit always leave me wanting more.

Stephen Colbert. While I would never say no to a threesome with political satirists Colbert and Jon Stewart, it was Colbert this year that provided more than just intellectual foreplay. Maybe it was the dancing to Sexy Back during the writer’s strike, or his duets with John Legend, or perhaps it’s just that he rocked great glasses long before Palin was on the scene. But I certainly think Colbert would be a formidable opponent . . . in bed.

Barack Obama. Whatever your politics, you have to admit that there’s something sexy about having a smart, articulate, romantic, and downright adorable president. Now I’m not only proud to be an American, but I’m proud to be American with a sexy prez. Obama demonstrates to nice guys everywhere that there’s a lot of power in being the good guy, and you can have a smokin’ hot wife, too.

Joshua Jackson. I was never much of a Dawson’s Creek fan, but Joshua Jackson’s role as genius maverick scientist on Fringe certainly caught my attention. His character has an incredibly high IQ, breaks all the rules, and has constant five o’clock shadow? That might be too much for this geek lover to handle.

Masi Oka. Oka, who plays Hiro Nakamura in Heroes, is so cute in his role as the wide-eyed, optimistic time traveler. While I can’t wait to see his character evolve into the bad-ass samurai from the future who fans have gotten glimpses of, I get excited over him as the sweet, comic book reading hero who saves the day.

Yeah, it’s really a toss up for me who my favorite is. I’ve been re-watching Arrested Development episodes lately, so . . . I can’t stop thinking about Michael Cera.
